There have been a variety of ways that clients have obtained samples from individuals residing in correctional facilities, including but not limited to:
- requesting permission from the correction facility to collect the samples themselves (e.g. during visitation);
- requesting the correctional facility's medical staff to perform the collection; or
- obtaining a forensic sample for the individual residing in the correctional facility.
Please note that any DNA sample submitted for testing that was not taken using the swabs in our testing kit is considered to be a forensic sample and therefore subject to a forensic DNA test fee.
If it is not possible to obtain a DNA sample from the individual directly, you may wish to consider testing other relatives (e.g. DNA Sibling Test, DNA Grandparent Test, etc).
